" I Won't Mess With You...Lieutenant"

This weekend I took a walk in the park. Rittenhouse Square is the locale of this park, a haven for the chic of Philadelphia. It sits amongst fabulous outdoor restaurants and cafes and some of the best shopping in the city.

Army vibes inspired by:
Junya Watanabe Fall 2010

On my way back from the park I stopped into the grocery store to grab some cat food for myself...well not  for myself, but for my cat, Junior. Anyways, the cashier asked me if I have my club card and I didn't have it with me so I asked if I could just give her my phone number to look it up.

After I rattled off my phone number an older man jokingly asks if he can call me now. I give one of those awkward, polite giggles. Then he says.. "I won't mess with you, you're a lieutenant." He continues to tell me what all the badges on my jacket mean. The lower badge on my arm means that I spent 6 months overseas and the badge above it means that I am a lieutenant of the army.

So thank you to the WWII vet at the grocery store for giving me the history of my genuine army jacket!

Sunny=Rainy

It is raining in Philadelphia today, contrary to the popular television show's misleading title,  "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." I have real problems with the title. Let me explain.

The transitive theorem in math goes a little something like this:
 If A= B, and B=C, then A=C.

It's a pretty simple concept. Now lets apply it today's scenario:
If Sunny = Philadelphia, and Philadelphia = Rainy, then Sunny= Rainy.

Math never fails me!

Anyways I was listening to the weather report this morning and they said expect high winds and rain all day.  I already picked out my outfit before I heard this lovely news and there was no backing out now. I wore a high waisted gathered black skirt and, black printed top and my "bad-ass blazer." I felt that the addition of rain boots to my preconceived outfit would be a sufficient enough defense against the elements.

Beggining of the Day Happiness

As I am walking to class I quickly realize that my unwillingness to compromise my outfit for the weather was a huge mistake. The wind was messing with me all day. Wind is the annoying little brother of the weather family (there's a hilarious MUST SEE commercial for wind energy that makes my point).

First he was lifting up my skirt for all the traffic on Market Street to see my lovely arss. It wasn't cute and sexy like Marylin.
No, quite the opposite. It was more like this. Incredibly embarrassing and slightly horrifying.
Next he was trying to pull a Mary Poppins on me.
Except instead making the experience delightful and cheery it was rather violent and unpleasant. I was airborne for quite some time,  which sounds exciting in theory but in reality the experience was terrorizing.

Next it the wind went for the hair. Always with the hair.
You know how sometimes there is that gentle wind that makes you feels like a model with your gorgeous locks elegantly flowing behind you.

Well that's exactly the opposite of what happened to my hair today.

The after effects where absolutely dreadful.
The girl behind me in class was complaining because my unruly hair obstructed her view.

Miserable End of Day

Hope your day was winderful!

Herreeeeeeeee's Johnnny..

Except it's not Johnny, it's me. And I don't have an axe, I have a laptop. And I'm not trying to kill my wife, I'm trying to keep up with my  C'EST DEMODE posts!

WOAH NOW.. LET'S NOT GET CRAZY!

OK, so, this is getting kind of addicting. I've done this bloggin' jazz before (1st post explains everything- I'm a blog whore...shhhh) but there has never been this nagging need to go on and check on it every five minutes. This is almost getting more addicting than Facebook. I can see the shock on your faces now with that statement.."BLASPHEMY! I SHALL NEVER RETURN TO C'EST DEMODE FOR AS LONG I SHALL LIVE!"

Today marks the 1 week anniversary of my blog! It's kind of a big deal. If you have your own blog you know that blogspot.com has a stats page that allows you to see how many views you have and what countries the viewers are from.  You will never guess how many views I have received. Drum roll please.............200! Yes, a whopping 200! I know I'm practically a blogging superstar now. I assume Anna Wintour will be calling any minute asking me to write a special article on my success.

Sarcasm aside, it was really cool to see that people are looking at my blog or at least they accidentally followed my link from the Sartorialist.  On top of that, some of the viewers were international - from Canada,  the Netherlands, and Spain to name a few! If I had to guess it was definitely Avril Lavigne, Princess Maxima of the Netherlands, and obviously Javier Bardem.

I don't want to jinx myself, but I really do think this blog will be different than my last 13 blogs that are now floating out there in cyberspace (most of which never made it past a week). Those poor little guys. I imagine it being very cold, dark, and lonely place out there in cyberspace. My blogs floated apart and and they have no one to rant to about their neglectful mother. Every once in a while they get knocked into by other angry blogs of failure. Those, poor and unfortunate souls. Mommy misses you blogs 1-13.....sikeeee. There's a new baby in town and she's cute and adorable and she goes by the name C'EST DEMODE and she going to be a cyberspace STARRRRRR!

Au Revoir!

Commitment Issues

OK people time to get serious. Let's just say I ain't a blog virgin. In fact, one might say I am a bit of a blog whore. I have started 13 blogs! Yes, 13. I'm not proud of it. Each one died, rather quickly, due to my incredible lack of commitment.

Each blog I've gone in thinking I'll be the next Tavi after week 1 . Dries Van Noten will start sending me clothes after week 2. Karl Lagerfeld will use me as his muse after week 3 and in about a month or so I will be front page of WWD.

Although my expectations remain the same,I have finally come to the realization that it may take a little more time than I expected.

So here I go, starting yet another blog. You know how the saying goes... 14th time's the charm!

T.A.P.S.

P.S. If you have even a tingling of interest in my blog or pity my poor soul, please follow me (yes, I have resorted to begging)! I need to know someone's reading this blog and my thoughts aren't cast into the black hole that is the internet.
