Spice Up Your Life

Am I the only person in the fashion blogosphere that does not own a pair of the oh-so-trendy Jeffrey Campbell Litas?? How very demode of me.

I began pondering why so many girls fell in love with these clunky and slightly unflattering clodhoppers. After much thought and careful deliberation it struck me, I HAVE SEEN THESE BOOTS BEFORE!

Don't believe me? Take a closer look...
Simply slap on the Union Jack and you got an exact replica of these infamous Spice Girl platforms.

Mr. Campbell gave every young woman what they have always dreamed of! We finally have the opportunity to live out our childhood fantasy of being one of "the girls." I was always Scary Spice... is that weird?

But wait, there's more...
Yes, it is true. Move over Jeffrey Campbell,  Prada is hopping on the Spice Girl bandwagon straight to the cash register.

Spice Girls are back just in time for the New Year- cropped tops, knee high socks, platforms, the whole nine yards.
DREAMS DO COME TRUE!

Today's 1/1/11= the luckiest day ever. So please people, lets all wish this trend will last FOREVER.

Who would have thought that Spice Girls were SO ahead their time and doing the shoe trends for our time? At least I wouldn't have. :D Like, ever.
But nice shoes though, and great thinking and detail seeking from you! 10 full points!

Love the shoes! Confession, I do have a pair very similar.

I always saw myself as most like "Sporty" but my dreams would come true if someone saw me as "Ginger"...love her.

Happy New Year!

Fashion just follows cycle after cycle, right? I mean, this whole platform trend doesn't even just go back to the 90s...it goes back to the platform shoes worn centuries ago to keep women's feet above the mud :) I just love watching those circles...makes you feel connected with people from all across history!

Thanks so much for your comment on my blog! I too have not jumped on the bandwagon. Not only do they not look comfortable but one must lumber down the street awkwardly when one wears them because of the clunky heel height. Some of the bloggers I've seen look good in them (standing and posing that is) but they're just not for me. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

that is so freaking observant! by the way I was in love with the spice girls about 15 years ago. my sis and I would dress up as them (ok, who didn't? don't judge!)me as scary, and her as ginger! Cant you tell the resemblance..hahaha!

Hahaha I do love the Lita's, but yes, I definitely saw this platform resemblance. I'm totally going to stalk Spice Girl style right now. Gotta represent 3rd grade.. good times.

I hear ya girl!!! I pre-ordered my Litas when they first came out and had no idea it would take hold like it did.... It kind of sucks because I feel pressure to get a lot of wear out of them this season because everyone will be Lita-ed out be next fall. Owell 'tis life, I still love them;)
